Olaf Breuning interview

Olaf Breuning is a really great artist from Switzerland who´s working a lot with supernice films involving all kinds
of crazy ímagery & stuff. Lately he has been doing a lot more sculptures involving for example snowmen.
Grand Burger had the honour to have a small interview with him.
Links to his works & stuff you´ll find in the end of it.

Question: What are you doing right now?

Answer: Leaving New York to Europe and Australia for one month. I am stressed and have to write you back because I
take only my mobile phone with me and on that I can not write long e-mails....

Q: How does an ordinary day in your life look like?

A: In the morning i wake up make a coffee for me and makiko, we leave the house together. she goes working and i go
to baltazar (a very nice french-disney-like restaurant) for breakfast. have meetings or try to have some
ideas over a big bowl of cappucino.

Q: What inspires you, and what disgusts you?

A: I am inspired of new things i never saw before. i am often very
disgust when i try to work and out of what ever reason i can not do it, have no ideas.

Q. How come you lately been working a lot with sculptural pieces?

A: I work now since 10 years as a artist and i guess it is for me always very nice to step in other areas.
sculptures i never really did so far and it is nice to work on something physical. photos and films are more
a memory of physical invovlement. sculpture is what it is. a pipe is a pipe.

Q: If you could choose between living in a big Eddie Murphy-style house in Beverly Hills with dogs & stuff for 1 year working
as an au-pair, or spending half a year in an igloo on the northpole with an eskimowife, mainly living off raw animal livers,
what would it be?

A:sorry, nothing of both.

Q: Can you tell me a little bit about which artists that inspires you, whether it´s Mike Kelley or Christina Aguliera?

A: definitly christina aguliera. she is a lot better looking than mike kelley!

Q. What do you think of 50 Cents record cover for "The Massacre" (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0007P3582.08._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
where he´s muscly, oiled up, and then someone draw with a pen around the outlines of his muscles to make it even more bombastic,
an act of genius artistic expression or only stupid & quite ugly?

A: well, i like in general the visal language of the hip-hop culture. always all extreme....big muscles, big asses,
big...all big.....big money....big champagne..big cars....well, i was listen for a few years to hip-hop, i gave
it up...since all the big stars start to sing more and more about jesus.

Q: What´s your favourite food?

A: I guess spaghetti.

Q: Do you like kids (or any other small pets)?

A: no, not at all. kids and small pets in it self are ok. it is more the peoples around them...they make me crazy.
ohhh, look, that small puppy....ohh, look how cute...i always think: puppy my ass you freak!

Q: Tell me a little bit about your movie "Why" coming in 2007..

A: I am now leaving to switzerland to organize the shooting i will have in august. so far i really dont know
too much. tell you later more.

Q: Other future plans?

A: no, not really.

Thanks!

"200 beers in 2 days - that was the mission"

Wait - this is insane: There´s even plenty more of what
that came from: the rate of supremacy of this photos are so
high that there´s not even a word for it.
See for yourself, and have in mind that it´s actually not a set-up,
it´s as real as it gets:

Dojan

OUTSTANDING series of photos from a partysite from Gothenburg 2005
that shows that reality is always far more excellent than fiction:
